History in Motion - A New Era of Cultural Collaboration

The Croatian History Museum Showcases Prominent Figures of National History at Zagreb Airport
Passengers at Zagreb Airport can now do more than just observe the runways and aircraft—they can step into the world of Croatia’s most renowned figures in science, culture, politics, and sports. The exhibition “STARS OF CROATIAN HISTORY: The Sky is Their Limit. Get to Know Them!”, created by the Croatian History Museum, is now open in the Museum Zone of the passenger terminal. This modern and interactive exhibition introduces individuals whose work and achievements have left an indelible mark on Croatia and the world.

The Museum Zone, located in the passenger terminal immediately after security control, is the first of its kind in the region and a remarkable example of how challenges can inspire creativity. Due to ongoing renovations following earthquake damage, the Croatian History Museum has been unable to use its own exhibition space. Instead, a series of exhibitions will now be held at Zagreb Airport, which has proven to be an excellent host with an attractive venue.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, which oversees the Croatian History Museum as a national heritage institution.

Among the historical figures featured in the “Stars of Croatian History” exhibition are: Slavoljub Penkala inventor of the mechanical pencil, Ivan Vučetić pioneer of fingerprint identification, Andrija Štampar co-founder of the World Health Organization, Leopold (Lavoslav) Ružička - Croatia’s first Nobel Prize winner, Ivan Meštrović renowned sculptor, Milka Trnina famous opera singer, known as the “Croatian Nightingale”,  Dražen Petrović the first Croatian basketball player in the NBA, Franjo Tuđman the first President of Croatia and many more who have made significant contributions to society.

The exhibition “STARS OF CROATIAN HISTORY: The Sky is Their Limit. Get to Know Them!” was curated by Magdalena Vrbanec and Iva Katarina Vukičević of the Croatian History Museum. The Museum Zone project and the exhibition’s visual design were created by Nikolina Jelavić Mitrović, while the visual identity and illustrations were crafted by Kazinoti & Komenda.
